Technical Support

IT Support Intern

The front door into IT work. You sit with our Technical Support team, do real work from the first week (staging equipment, closing simple tickets, learning the trade), and find out whether this is your career while being paid by the hour. No professional experience required, but you do need to show us you are already the person who fixes things. Part-time around classes or full-time in the summer.

The job

This is the front door into IT work at Tech Dynamix. You sit with our Technical Support team, learn how a managed service provider actually runs, and do real work from the first week: staging equipment, closing simple tickets, and building the habits the trade runs on.

You do not need professional experience. You do need to already be the person who fixes things: the one your family calls, the one with the home lab, the one who reinstalled Windows for fun once. This internship turns that into a trade, with technicians and engineers above you who remember learning it themselves.

Paid hourly and scheduled flexibly: part-time around a class schedule during the semester, or full-time over the summer. Reports to the Service Delivery Manager.

What you would be doing

  • Image, configure, and stage workstations and laptops so a technician can deploy them without rework
  • Keep the asset inventory honest: tag equipment, record serial numbers, and update what moved
  • Handle password resets, account unlocks, and simple Microsoft 365 tasks under supervision
  • Answer and triage incoming tickets: gather the details a technician needs before they pick it up
  • Do bench work: memory and drive swaps, machine cleanups, and peripheral testing
  • Wipe and prepare retired equipment properly, so nothing leaves with client data on it
  • Ride along with technicians on client site visits and learn how the work is done in front of a client
  • Update documentation when you learn something the next person will need
  • Write ticket notes the way the technicians do: what you saw, what you tried, what happened

What we are looking for

Required

  • Genuine, demonstrable interest in IT: a home lab, coursework projects, machines you have built or fixed, and the ability to talk us through one in the interview
  • Current enrollment in, or recent completion of, an IT or computer related program at a high school, community college, university, or bootcamp, or an equivalent record of teaching yourself
  • Working familiarity with Windows and comfort learning unfamiliar software quickly
  • Reliability: on time, every scheduled day, with the phone put away
  • Courtesy in person and on the phone, because clients will see and hear you
  • Able to work on-site at the Painesville or Hudson office
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship

Preferred

  • CompTIA A+ earned or in progress
  • Customer service experience of any kind, including retail and food service, which teaches exactly the patience this trade needs
  • Networking basics: what an IP address is, what DNS does, why a cable gets tested
  • A driver's license and reliable transportation, which makes client site ride-alongs easier to schedule

Where it goes

Our IT Support Technician I role asks for a year of professional experience or an equivalent mix of coursework, internship, and hands-on personal experience. This internship is that mix, by design. Interns who show the reliability and the curiosity get first look when a Technician I seat opens, and the certification budget that comes with it.

What this role is not

  • Not a coffee-run internship. The work is real: real equipment, real tickets, real clients. It is supervised, not invented to keep you busy.
  • Not a software development internship. This is IT operations and support. If you want to write code all day, this is the wrong door, though plenty of people in this trade write plenty of it eventually.
  • Not remote. The point is sitting next to people who do this well, and that happens in the office.

What good looks like by the end

  • Workstations you staged deployed to clients without a technician redoing anything
  • Simple tickets closed on your own, with notes another technician can act on
  • The judgment to hand up what you are not sure of instead of guessing quietly
  • A clear answer, for you and for us, on whether this is your trade

Working conditions

Office based, at a bench and a desk, with occasional lifting of equipment up to 50 pounds and occasional ride-alongs to client sites with a technician.

What everybody here gets

These come with the job, whichever job it is.

Health insurance

A group medical plan, with the company paying 50 percent of your premium. Dependents can be added at group rates.

Direct Primary Care

On top of the plan, the company pays for a membership with a primary care practice. Routine care means calling your doctor, not starting a claim.

401(k) matching

The company matches the first 3 percent of your pay dollar for dollar, then half of the next 2 percent. Put in 5 percent and the company puts in 4.

Paid time off

PTO accrues every pay period, and the rate grows with your length of service. Up to 80 hours carries into the next year.

Ten paid holidays

Six company holidays, plus four floating days a year that you choose and your supervisor schedules.

Paid weekly

Payday is every Friday, by direct deposit, for the week before. Most of this industry pays twice a month.

A schedule with some give

Eight hours inside an 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. window with a full hour for lunch. Eight to five and nine to six are both normal, and other shifts get approved.

Training and certification

Certifications paid for and time made for them, plus leadership tracks and internships.

Bereavement leave

Three paid days for an immediate family member, and one paid day for an extended family member, somebody you were close to, or a pet.

Mileage and expenses

Approved travel is reimbursed on a submitted log, and business expenses on itemized receipts. Your commute is not travel, and nobody pretends otherwise.

Donation matching

Give to a cause you care about and the company gives alongside you. What you support is yours to choose.

Referral program

Rewards for referrals, for everybody on the payroll rather than only the people in sales.
