Managed IT

Managed IT Support

Most small companies do not have an IT department. They have whoever is best with computers, doing it on top of their real job. That works until it does not.

Who this is for, and what it fixes

Nobody owns your technology, so every problem becomes an interruption for whoever is closest to it.

If one of these sounds familiar, this is usually the right conversation.

  • You have between nine and 99 employees and no full-time IT staff.
  • Your current arrangement is one person who is very good and very busy.
  • You are paying several vendors and none of them owns the whole picture.
  • Something broke recently and it took longer to fix than the business could afford.

What you get out of it

  • Your staff stop losing hours to problems nobody owns.
  • One number to call, and the person answering already knows your systems.
  • Work that used to land on whoever was nearest is somebody's actual job.
  • One bill for the support, with projects quoted separately and never a surprise.

What we do about it

We become the technology department you were never big enough to hire. Your staff call us directly, so nobody on your team is spending their afternoon rebuilding a laptop instead of doing the work you hired them for.

Behind the help desk, the unglamorous work runs continuously. Patching, backups, monitoring, and license management all happen whether or not anybody thinks to ask for them. That is the part that keeps small problems from becoming the kind that stop a working day.

You also get a person who knows your business well enough to plan with you. Once a quarter we sit down and talk about what is aging, what is coming, and what it will cost, so a server replacement is a budget line rather than a surprise.

What is included

A help desk your staff call directly

Your people reach a person who already knows your systems. No ticket portal required, though there is one if they prefer it.

Monitoring and maintenance

Patching, updates, and health checks on servers, workstations, and network equipment, running continuously in the background.

Backup and recovery

Your data is backed up on a schedule we agree on, and we test that the restore actually works rather than assuming it does.

Documentation you own

What you have, how it is configured, and why. Written down and kept current, so your business does not depend on one person's memory.

Vendor coordination

We deal with your line-of-business software vendor, your internet provider, and your copier company, so you do not have to referee.

Quarterly planning

A real conversation about what is aging out, what is coming, and what it will cost. No slide deck of numbers you did not ask for.

How it works, step by step

  1. We look at what you haveEvery machine, every server, every account, and what depends on what. You get that written down whether or not you go on to work with us, because you should own a map of your own environment.
  2. We fix what is urgent and write down the restSome of what we find needs doing now, and some of it is a project to plan properly. We separate the two in front of you rather than bundling everything into one number.
  3. We take over the day-to-dayMonitoring, patching, backups, and the help desk your people call. Your staff contact us directly, and the handover is done in a way that does not need you to relay anything.
  4. We keep it under reviewWhat broke, what is aging, and what is worth doing next. That conversation happens on a rhythm rather than when something has already gone wrong.

Working alongside an internal team

Plenty of our clients do have someone internal. In those cases we take the after-hours load, the specialist work, and the projects, so your person stops being the single point of failure and gets to work on things that matter to your business.

Common questions

How is this priced?

Per device, per server, per network, and per user, so the number follows the size and shape of your business rather than a package tier. We work it out after we have looked at what you have, and you know the figure before the month starts.

We will also price it against what you currently pay across all your vendors, which is usually the more revealing comparison.

Do we have to replace everything to start?

No. We document what you have before we change anything. Some of it will be fine, some of it will be near the end of its life, and you will get a plain list of which is which and what we would do about it. You decide the order and the pace.

What happens to our current IT person?

That is your call, and both answers are common. Some clients move that person into the work they were hired for and let us take the technology. Others keep them and we work alongside them. We will tell you honestly which we think fits.

How is this billed?

A monthly agreement, priced per device, per server, per network, and per user. You know the number before the month starts. Project work sits outside it and is quoted separately, so nothing appears on an invoice that you did not agree to first.

What if we only need help sometimes?

Then a full agreement is probably the wrong purchase, and we will say so. The model works because the preventive work happens continuously. Paying us to only show up after something breaks buys you the expensive half and none of the useful half.
