Co-Managed IT
After-Hours and Weekend Cover
An internal IT person is on call whether or not anybody agreed to it, because there is nobody else to ring.
We take the hours your team is not working. Alerts reach us, calls reach us, and the person who would otherwise have answered gets an evening back.
This is usually the first piece of a co-managed arrangement, because it is the hardest thing for one person to provide and the easiest to hand over cleanly. It also needs the least change to how your team works during the day.
What we can do at 2 a.m. depends entirely on what is written down, which is why documentation goes in first. Cover without a record of your environment is somebody guessing on your systems in the dark.
What this covers
- Cover outside your team's working hours, on the boundary you set.
- Alerts routed to us rather than to a phone on somebody's nightstand.
- Agreed criteria for what we act on and what waits until morning.
- A written handover each time, so your team starts the day knowing what happened.
- Holiday and sick-day cover, arranged ahead rather than improvised.
In their words
The up-time of our network and servers is critical to our day-to-day operations. Tech Dynamix has been an intricate piece of our business by providing us with prompt and reliable services. Tech Dynamix can always be counted on to be there when we need them.
Common questions
Do you take over completely at 5 p.m.?
Only if that is what you want. Some clients hand over everything after hours, and others keep their own person as the escalation point behind us for a short list of systems. Both work, as long as it is written down rather than assumed.
What can you actually do without knowing our systems?
Less than we can do once we know them, which is why documentation comes first. With a current record of your environment, out-of-hours cover is real work rather than a message-taking service.
