Technology Roadmaps
A technology roadmap is a sequence of work with the reasoning attached, written so someone outside the technical detail can follow it and question it.
We take what you're running and what it costs, and turn that into an order of work for the next few years. An IT assessment gives us that starting picture.
Each item shows its cost and what happens if it waits. That second part makes a roadmap usable, because it lets you choose what to defer and see the cost of deferring it.
Hardware and license renewal dates are mapped against the plan, so a server at end of life shows up as a budget line before it fails. Our post your server is due for replacement, and it might not need one is one example of the decisions a roadmap settles.

How far ahead is worth planning?
Three years is usually the useful horizon, with the first year specific and the later years directional. Beyond that, the technology and your business both change enough that the detail would be guesswork.

They will, and the roadmap is meant to be revised as they do. We revisit it on a schedule, which is a short conversation when nothing has changed and a useful one when something has.
