Backup and Recovery
Almost every business we take on has backups. Far fewer have ever tested whether the restore works, which is the only part that counts.
We back up your systems on a schedule we agree on with you, based on how much work your business could stand to lose. That conversation is worth having properly once: an hour of lost work and a day of lost work are very different numbers.
Backups are kept separated from your production systems, so a problem that reaches your servers does not reach the copies. This is the specific gap that turns a recoverable incident into a company-changing one.
We test restores rather than assuming them. A backup nobody has restored from is a belief, not a safeguard.
What this covers
- Servers, workstations, and cloud data, including Microsoft 365.
- Retention set against how far back you might realistically need to go.
- Copies held separately from the systems they protect.
- Restore testing, so recovery is something we have done rather than something we expect to work.
- A written recovery plan naming who does what.
Common questions
Is Microsoft 365 not already backed up?
No, and this surprises most people. Microsoft keeps the service running. What happens to your data inside it, including a mailbox emptied by somebody who should not have had access, is your responsibility. Retention policies help and they are not a backup.
How quickly can you get us running again?
That depends on what failed and how much data is involved, and any provider quoting you a single number without asking those questions is guessing. We will size it honestly against your systems and tell you what the realistic range looks like.
