Cloud-to-Cloud Backup
A cloud application being up doesn't mean your data in it is safe. The vendor keeps the service running, and the records inside it are your responsibility. Most vendor agreements say so in plain terms.
This is the assumption we correct most often. Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce, QuickBooks and the rest are built to survive their own outages. None of them is built to undo something a person in your business did by mistake.
The losses that hurt are ordinary: a mailbox cleared out, a shared drive overwritten, a bad import that rewrites thousands of records at once, a departing employee emptying their own account, or a compromised login deleting as it goes. To the vendor, each of those is a valid instruction, so it's faithfully copied everywhere the vendor keeps your data.
Cloud-to-cloud backup keeps an independent copy where the application can't reach it, and it's inexpensive. Finding out at the wrong moment that nobody had a copy is the expensive part.

- Copies held independently of the vendor, so a problem in their systems doesn't reach yours.
- Recovery of a single record or file without restoring everything around it.
- Retention past the point an account is closed, so a departing employee doesn't take their data with them.

Questions About Cloud-to-Cloud Backup
Does our provider not back this up already?
Providers protect the service and usually hold deleted items for a limited window, which covers a mistake someone notices quickly. It won't cover a deletion nobody spots for a quarter. Most provider agreements state plainly that the data is your responsibility.
Is this not what the recycle bin is for?
Only inside its window, and only for deletions. It won't help with a bad bulk import that overwrote good records with wrong ones, which in our experience is the more common way a cloud system loses data.
Which applications can you cover?
The mainstream ones are straightforward: Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Salesforce and the common finance platforms. For anything more specialized, it depends on whether the application has an interface we can pull data from, and that takes a short conversation to answer.
How is this different from your Microsoft 365 Backup page?
It's the same job with a different scope. Microsoft 365 backup covers a Microsoft tenant in detail. This page covers the other systems your business runs on, and there's usually more than one.
