What we do about it

Adding hardware rarely fixes wireless, and often makes it worse, because access points that overlap badly interfere with each other. We survey the building first and design from what we measure.

A design accounts for what the building is made of and what you are doing in it. Block walls, racking, refrigeration, and metal all change the answer, and a warehouse full of stock behaves differently from the same warehouse when it is empty.

Then we prove it. After installation we survey again and show you the coverage you actually got, rather than telling you it should be better now.

How it works, step by step

  1. We survey the buildingWith instruments, in the building, with the racking where the racking actually is. A survey done on a floor plan is a guess with a diagram attached.
  2. We design the coverageHow many access points, where, on what channels, and what each one is cabled back to. Fewer units placed properly beat more units placed hopefully.
  3. We install and validate itThen we walk it again with the same instruments, because the difference between designed and delivered is the part nobody checks.
  4. We manage it afterwardsFirmware, interference from whatever the neighbors install next, and a guest network that stays separate from your operation.

Warehouses and plants are their own problem

Racking moves, stock height changes weekly, and a forklift is a large moving object that absorbs signal. Handhelds also have to roam between access points without dropping mid-scan, which is a design decision rather than something that happens on its own. This is measured work, and it is why we survey the space loaded rather than empty.

Common questions

How is this priced?

The survey is quoted on its own and is yours whether or not we do the installation. Hardware and installation are quoted from what the survey finds.

Ongoing management is monthly per access point, and it is optional.

Will more access points fix our coverage?

Usually not on their own. Badly placed access points interfere with each other, and the result can be worse than fewer, better positioned ones. That is exactly what the survey settles.

Do you have to survey, or can you quote from a floor plan?

We can estimate from a plan, and for a small open office that is often close enough. For anything with racking, machinery, or block walls, a prediction and reality diverge quickly, and the survey costs less than getting the design wrong.

Can you cover a yard or outdoor area?

Yes. Outdoor coverage uses different equipment and different mounting, and weather and distance change the design. It is routine work, it just is not the same work as covering an office.
