Wireless, cameras, phones, and the network all run on cable somebody pulled. When that layer is guesswork, everything above it inherits the problem, and the fault always looks like it belongs to something else.

The drops were added a few at a time by whoever was on site, and nobody can say what is behind the wall or where it ends.

What we do about it

We install cable to a standard rather than to whatever fit at the time. Runs stay within length, route away from what would interfere with them, terminate properly, and carry a label at both ends, so the next person to touch it is not tracing by hand with a tone generator.

The room at the end of the cable matters as much as the cable. Racks, patch panels, power, and enough space to get a hand in are the difference between a change that takes an hour and a change nobody wants to attempt. We build rooms other people can work in, which includes the electrician, the phone vendor, and whoever comes after us.

Then you get the paperwork. Test results for every run and an as-built drawing that matches the building, filed with the rest of your documentation instead of in a folder at our office.

How it works, step by step

  1. We walk the buildingWhere cable has to go, what it has to pass through, and what is already there and still usable. Most buildings have more usable cable than anybody thinks, in the wrong places.
  2. You see the drawing before anything is pulledDrop counts, routes, rack layout, and where the room goes. Changing that on paper costs nothing. Changing it in a ceiling costs a day.
  3. We install, dress, and label itPulled to spec, terminated, labeled at both ends, and left in a state the next person can work in, whether or not that person is us.
  4. We test it and hand you the resultsEvery run tested, with the results and a drawing that matches what is actually installed. You own both, and they are what make the next project a quote rather than an investigation.

Working alongside your builder and your electrician

On a fit-out we are one trade among several, and low-voltage work has to happen at a particular point in somebody else's schedule. We coordinate with the general contractor and the electrician directly rather than through you, and we would rather be in the conversation while the walls are open, when a drop costs a fraction of what the same drop costs six months later.

Common questions

How is this priced?

Cabling is priced per drop, from the count on the drawing, with the room work, equipment, and any audio visual quoted separately. You see the drawing the number is built on, so the scope can change while it is still on paper.

Do we have to replace the cable we already have?

Usually not all of it. Plenty of older cable carries what is running on it perfectly well. We test what is there and tell you which runs are worth keeping, which is normally the cheaper answer and occasionally an unwelcome one on a few specific runs.

Can you work while we are open?

Yes. It changes how the work is scheduled rather than whether it can be done. Pulling cable above an occupied office happens in the evening and at the weekend more often than not, and we plan it that way rather than discovering it on the day.

Do you do the conference room equipment, or only the cable?

Both. Displays, cameras, microphones, and the room controls, set up around the platform your staff already meet on. The cable is the part that has to be right first, which is why the room and the cabling sit under one service instead of two vendors pointing at each other.

Do you work for general contractors?

Yes, as the low-voltage trade on a fit-out, and directly for the business moving in. Either way the drawing, the test results, and the labeling belong to whoever owns the building.
