Sales and Marketing
Business Development Representative
The job is to fill our sales calendar with the right conversations: confirmed meetings with Northeast Ohio businesses that fit our client profile, with a decision maker in the room. You are not asked to write proposals or close deals. The pay is a base salary plus a bonus on every qualified meeting, with more when a meeting becomes an opportunity and when a deal you sourced closes.
The job
This role exists to do one thing well: put the right sales conversations on the calendar. You find Northeast Ohio businesses that fit the profile of a good Tech Dynamix client, reach the person who makes technology decisions, and book a confirmed meeting that actually happens. Someone else runs the meeting and closes the deal.
Success here is measured in qualified meetings scheduled and completed. Not proposals, not revenue, not closed deals. The pay is built the same way: a base salary, then a bonus on every qualified meeting, with further bonuses when a meeting turns into a real opportunity and when a deal you sourced closes.
Full-time. Reports to the Owner and General Manager.
What you would be doing
- Build and maintain lists of area businesses that fit our client profile, and work them methodically
- Prospect by phone, email, and LinkedIn, and show up at the networking events and business groups where our future clients already are
- Qualify prospects before booking: right size, right area, real need, and the decision maker in the room
- Schedule meetings, confirm them, and chase the reschedules so they actually happen
- Prepare a short brief before each meeting so the person running it walks in knowing who they are talking to and why
- Record every contact, conversation, and commitment in the CRM, accurately and the same day
- Hand each meeting off cleanly, and stay available for follow-up questions afterward
What counts as a qualified meeting
The meeting bonus only works if the definition is agreed up front, so here it is. A meeting qualifies when all of the following are true:
- The business has 10 or more employees
- The business is inside our service area
- A decision maker attends
- The business has a genuine interest in IT support, cybersecurity, compliance, Microsoft 365, or a technology project
- The meeting was confirmed in advance and actually took place
A meeting that misses one of these still gets logged, and may still be worth having. It just does not pay a bonus.
How the pay works
The base salary is $42,000 to $50,000 a year, depending on experience. The bonuses on top of it are uncapped.
- $150 for every qualified meeting. Ten in a month adds $1,500 to that month.
- $250 when a meeting becomes a genuine opportunity: discovery completed, budget discussed, and a proposal requested.
- A share of every deal you sourced. When a meeting you generated becomes a managed services client, you earn 25% of the first month's recurring revenue. An agreement worth $5,000 a month pays a $1,250 bonus. When it becomes project work instead, you earn 5% of the project's gross profit.
- Quarterly volume bonuses. Twenty qualified meetings in a quarter pays an extra $500. Thirty pays $1,500. Forty-five pays $3,000.
What you need
Applicants must meet all of the following.
- Experience in outbound sales, appointment setting, business development, or inside sales, with results you can describe concretely
- Comfort on the phone with business owners and office managers, including calls that start cold
- Clear written English for prospecting email that a busy owner will actually read
- The discipline to make your calls and touches every day without someone standing over you
- Organized, accurate record keeping
- A valid driver's license and reliable transportation for events and visits around the service area
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
What helps
- Selling or setting appointments for a managed IT services provider, or any business to business service sold to owners
- Familiarity with how small businesses buy IT support, cybersecurity, or compliance work
- An existing network in Northeast Ohio business groups and chambers of commerce
- Experience working in a CRM every day
- Enough technology literacy to hold a credible first conversation about IT support, cybersecurity, and Microsoft 365
What this role is not
- Not a closing role. You book and qualify the conversation, and someone else runs the sales process. You share in the deals you source, but proposals, pricing, and negotiation are not your job.
- Not a marketing role. No content calendar, no ad campaigns, no social accounts. Your output is conversations, not impressions.
- Not an account management role. Existing clients are looked after by the service team. Your calendar is new business.
- Not a remote role. The work is in the territory: on the phone from the office, and in the room at area business events.
What good looks like in a year
- A steady rhythm of qualified meetings every month, holding twenty or more a quarter
- Meetings the people running them are glad to be in: right size business, real need, decision maker present
- A pipeline record accurate enough that anyone could pick it up and know where every prospect stands
- A visible presence in the area business community, so that some meetings start coming to you
Working conditions
Office based, with regular travel around the service area for networking events, business groups, and prospect visits.
What everybody here gets
These come with the job, whichever job it is.
Health insurance
A group medical plan, with the company paying 50 percent of your premium. Dependents can be added at group rates.
Direct Primary Care
On top of the plan, the company pays for a membership with a primary care practice. Routine care means calling your doctor, not starting a claim.
401(k) matching
The company matches the first 3 percent of your pay dollar for dollar, then half of the next 2 percent. Put in 5 percent and the company puts in 4.
Paid time off
PTO accrues every pay period, and the rate grows with your length of service. Up to 80 hours carries into the next year.
Ten paid holidays
Six company holidays, plus four floating days a year that you choose and your supervisor schedules.
Paid weekly
Payday is every Friday, by direct deposit, for the week before. Most of this industry pays twice a month.
A schedule with some give
Eight hours inside an 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. window with a full hour for lunch. Eight to five and nine to six are both normal, and other shifts get approved.
Training and certification
Certifications paid for and time made for them, plus leadership tracks and internships.
Bereavement leave
Three paid days for an immediate family member, and one paid day for an extended family member, somebody you were close to, or a pet.
Mileage and expenses
Approved travel is reimbursed on a submitted log, and business expenses on itemized receipts. Your commute is not travel, and nobody pretends otherwise.
Donation matching
Give to a cause you care about and the company gives alongside you. What you support is yours to choose.
Referral program
Rewards for referrals, for everybody on the payroll rather than only the people in sales.
