Education
IT Services for Education
Your job is teaching. Technology should be the thing nobody in the building has to think about, and for most schools it is not.
What we see in schools
Student data carries obligations
FERPA governs education records, and the practical question is who can reach them and whether that access is reviewed. Most schools have never been asked to show their answer.
Infrastructure outlives its plan
Equipment gets bought when funding allows, which means a building often runs on several generations of it at once, with no record of what is where.
Coverage where learning happens
Older buildings with block walls and thick floors are a wireless design problem, and a classroom where the devices drop is a lesson that stops.
Funding arrives in cycles
Grants and levies come with conditions and timelines that have nothing to do with when equipment fails.
How we approach it
We document the estate first, because most schools genuinely do not have a list of what they own, and every decision afterwards is cheaper once they do.
We design the network and the wireless for the building you actually have, including the parts of it that were built before anybody imagined a device in every hand.
We plan spending against your funding cycle and tell you what a grant application needs from us technically, which is usually the part that holds a submission up.
The short version
FERPA obligations, aging infrastructure, and doing both on a budget that was set last year.
Common questions
Do you understand FERPA?
Yes, and the practical work is much the same as any records obligation: know where the data is, control who can reach it, and be able to show both. We will tell you plainly where your current setup would struggle to demonstrate that.
Our building is old and the Wi-Fi is poor. Is that fixable?
Usually, and usually not by adding more access points, which is what has often been tried already. Older construction changes how signal travels, so we survey the building loaded and design from what we measure.
Can you work within a grant or levy timeline?
Yes. Tell us the deadline and what the funding covers, and we will give you costs and technical detail in a form you can put straight into the application.
